Major Wiki

Taiga Shimizu is Kaoru Shimizu's younger brother in the MAJOR series. He was fully introduced in the Seishuu High Arc as Goro's junior classmen and teammate in the baseball club (Season 3 in the anime).

Appearance[]

Taiga has short yellow hair, and he's always a little bit smaller compared to Goro side by side.

Character[]

Taiga first appears in season one for a brief moment asking his sister if baseball was fun. Taiga makes a much more proper debut in season three, joining Seishu High School's Baseball Club as shortstop. He appears in all of the later seasons, cheering or helping Goro with his training.

History[]

MAJOR[]

Taiga is initially inspired to play baseball in response to hearing passion in his elder sister's description of the game. He starts to love baseball at Yokohama Little where he admires his senior, Toshiya Sato, thinking "I want to be like that." Since Kaoru hears that Goro is creating a new team at Seishuu and struggling to find male members, she recommends that he tries joining the school and club.

Although hesitant, and quick to lose motivation, which causes discord on the Seishuu Club, he becomes a critical factor in the success of the team, and helps the team progress through several games and toward a climatic fight against Kaido High for regional dominance and an opportunity to appear at Kōshien.

Upon the conclusion with the Kaido match and the seniors' upcoming graduation, Taiga is selected captain. A dumbfounded Taiga becomes frustrated on the matter since he can't build a team without a player like Goro to bring results. But Goro reassures Taiga to be himself and build his own team however he feels.

MAJOR 2nd[]

In MAJOR 2nd, Taiga talks to Daigo as he is experiencing difficulty with having a new team. Taiga talks about his own experience at Seishuu, having been left by Goro to develop a team that he wanted to make, to which he decided that he would make one that would enjoy playing the sport even if they do not win.

Taiga is brought by Kaoru to help coach Fuurin's baseball team. To her dismay, he admits that he is rusty in baseball, but she later sees him practicing so that he could conduct proper drills with the team.

Trivia[]

  • He is the first 1st-year student to be selected baseball team captain, prior to his future nephew Daigo whom he advises with his experience.
