Goro returns to Mifune and offers to be Fuurin's new coach. However, he finds out that Fuurin's headmaster is Tetsufumi Egashira, who refuses Goro's offer.
It is revealed that Egashira was the one who sent Coach Kunitomo to another school.
Egashira tells Goro that if he finds someone else to coach Fuurin, he will accept.
Egashira tells Yamaguchi to cancel Fuurin's matinal training.
Goro asks Taiga Shimizu to be a temporary coach for Fuurin. Taiga accepts, but he says they still need a full-time coach who can teach teenagers properly.
Goro meets Toshiya while training, and finds out his relationship with Hikaru has worsened again, and he hasn't seen his son since he started going to middle school.
Yamaguchi finally begins to warm up to the Fuurin team and tries to help them by not cancelling their training, but Egashira finds it out. He tells her to cancel it again, and also to tell Taiga he is not allowed to train the team anymore.
Toshiya offers to train the Fuurin team, as he wants to both help Daigo after his defeat against Tsujido, and a chance to talk to his estranged son.
Toshiya manages to convince Egashira to let him train Fuurin.
