The Kaido Academy Arc is the fourth story arc of the MAJOR series. This arc is centered around Goro and Toshiya's time in Kaido Academy during the first half of their high school life.

Summary

The Island of Dreams (Manga: Volume 24, ch. 209 - Volume 27, ch. 235; Anime: Episode 040 - Episode 043)

After passing through Kaido's exams Goro and Toshiya are sent to Island of Dreams, a training facility for those who want a place in Kaido's baseball team lineup. After failing the pitchers selection and being chosen as an outfielder, Goro trains for six months and eventually manages to get another shot for the pitcher position. While at the island Goro meets coaches Inui and Suo and trainees Kusano, Kodama and many others who would eventually become his teammates at Kaido.

Island of Dreams vs. Scholarship Group (Manga: Volume 27, ch 236 - Volume 30, ch. 263; Anime: Episode 043 - Episode 047)

After returning from the Island of Dreams with Toshiya and his teammates, Goro finds out his mother is pregnant and expecting a baby. Some time after, Chiharu Shigeno is born and Goro officially joins the Kaido baseball team. However, Shizuka Saotome has different plans for the Island of Dreams recruits.

Kaido's past and Egashira's machinations (Manga: Volume 30, ch. 264 - Volume 31, ch. 278; Anime: Episode 048 - Episode 049)

After beating the scholarship students with his Island of Dreams teammates, Goro learns about Kaido School's past and history from Shizuka and Taizou. As Shizuka threatens to bench Goro during his entire high school life, he takes desperate measures and ultimately earns the aid of Tetsufumi Egashira, one of Kaido's higher ups. As Egashira guarantees that Goro can keep playing baseball normally, he starts training to beat Kaido's regular lineup with the help of both his Island of Dreams teammates and the scholarship stuedents.

2nd String vs. 1st String (Manga: Volume 31, ch. 279 - Volume 33, ch. 290; Anime: Episode 050 - Episode 052)

After a year and a half playing for Kaido's baseball club, Goro faces the Kaido regulars with Toshiya and his teammates. After winning the match, Goro promptly leaves with the promise of defeating his teammates from Kaido by playing for another team.

Manga and Anime Differences

This is one of two arcs with the most changes in the anime adaptation:

• Chapters 209, 210, 211, 212, 215, 218, 220, 224, 235, 264, 266, 272, 275 and 277 were only partially adapted to the anime. The exact pages adapted from each chapter can be seen in the arcticles of their respective episode counterparts.
• Chapters 276 and 290 were entirely cut from the anime adaptation.
• Komori's section from chapter 219 was moved to season 3 by the anime adaptation, similar to Hideki's storyline.

Aside from that, only two major events were cut from the anime, those being Terakado's brief storyline in chapters 275 and 276 and Goro leaving Kaido on chapter 290, in the anime, Goro simply leaves right after the match. Three long individual scenes were also cut: in the island of dreams section of the story, a scene with the characters doing the morning race routine, a meeting with the coaches after the scholarship group match, and a scene where Egashira punches Goro during their initial meeting.

Important Events

• As Goro Shigeno and Toshiya Sato are accepted into Kaido Academy and sent to a training facility called the Island of Dreams, where they will train for six months before joining the Kaido 2nd string team.
• After training in the Island of Dreams, Goro returns home and discovers his parents are expecting a baby. Shortly after, Chiharu Shigeno is born and Goro officially joins Kaido's 2nd string team.
• After arriving at Kaido's baseball grounds, the Island of Dreams students wins a match against the scholarship students.
• After winning, Goro learns about Kaido's history and is threatened of being benched for the rest of his high school baseball life by Shizuka Saotome.
• Goro gains the help of Tetsufumi Egashira, a Kaido higher up who rapidly becomes interested on Goro.
• After a year and a half of training at Kaido's baseball club, the 2nd string wins a match against the 1st string regulars. After winning the match, Goro leaves Kaido Academy.
