The Fuurin Middle Arc (or simply Middle School Arc) is the second story arc of the MAJOR 2nd manga and the tenth story arc overall in the MAJOR series. This arc is centered around Daigo Shigeno's middle school years at Fuurin Middle, his relationship with the Fuurin Baseball Club (later Combined Team) and his inevitable rivalry with Hikaru Sato and his team from the Tsujido Academy.

Important Events

• At the start of Daigo Shigeno's second year at Fuurin, his team is composed of only six members: Mutsuko Sakura, Hiromu Tanba, Yayoi Sawa, Tao Sagara, Seira Kandori and Daigo himself. To make things worse, Fuurin is not only unable to participate in any matches, but is also left without a coach.
• Akira Nishina and his friends from the Nanyou Lions try to join up Fuurin's baseball club, but only Nishina ends up joining, while the others give up to play in the senior league.
• After Nishina, Anita Kabashima and Chisato Fuji also join the club, totalizing nine members. After this, Fuurin is finally elegible to join the Spring Tournament.
• Fuurin participates in the tournament and defeats Itsuki Middle, Seiwa Middle (where Andy and Urabe play) and Yanagawa Middle. However, they end up losing to Oobi Middle, where Michiru Mayumura plays with her friend Kotaro Uozumi.
• The Fuurin team also participates in the Summer Tournament a few month later, but ends up losing in the first round against Eihou Middle. Sometime after this, Tanba graduates and Fuurin is left with only eight players.
• Chiyo Fuji, Chisato's sister, and Takumi Chiba, one of Nishina's friends from the Nanyou lions, end up joining the Fuurin baseball club, making them elegible for practice matches and tournaments again.
• Fuurin participates in a practice match against a school named Tsujido, where Hikaru Sato now plays.
• After losing the match against Hikaru and his team, Daigo talks to Goro about Fuurin's situation and the two agree that Fuurin needs a coach to help them as soon as possible.
• Goro asks both Toshiya Sato and Taiga Shimizu to coach the Fuurin team. The two accept, joining as both coach (Toshiya) and assistant-coach (Taiga).
• It is revealed that Tetsufumi Egashira is the headmaster of Fuurin. He tries to undermine Toshiya's tentatives of coaching the baseball team by building an auditorium where the training camp is located.
• Toshiya ends up finding a solution to this after talking to Goro and Mayumura, as he finds out the Oobi Middle team, where Mayumura's daughter Michiru plays, is very short on members, and has a training ground that goes unused.
• Toshiya proposes the creation of a Combined Team between Fuurin and Oobi, to which both schools accept. With this, at the end of Daigo's second middle school year, Michiru Mayumura, Kotaro Uozumi and Sanae Goda merge with the Fuurin Baseball Club to create one single team under Toshiya's tutelage.
• The Combined Team faces Kaido Unified in a practice match that ends in a tie.
• Right before the beginning of the school year, the Fuurin-Oobi combined team participates in the Spring Tournament and wins it.
• Daigo's third year at middle school begins.
• The Combined Team prepares for the Nationals by playing a few practice games against Miwa and Kenyukan.
• The East Kanagawa preliminaries begin with Fuurin and Eihou as the two seeds, being the champion and runner-up of the previous tournament, respectively.
• On their first game, Fuurin wins against Fujimihara by 2-1 and proceeds to the semifinals.
• At the same time, Tsujido is shown to be dominating the West Kanagawa preliminaries.
• It is revealed that the semifinals and final matches will be played on the same day. As such, Fuurin will face Koutou Middle first, and is expected to face Eihou right after, in the final match.
• Fuurin wins against Koutou Middle by mercy rule, however, a relatively unknown school named Kawaeda causes an upset when it defeats Eihou also by mercy rule.
• Fuurin defeats Kawaeda in the regional finals and proceeds to the prefectural tournament, where Tsujido Academy will be their first opponent.
• During the last match of the preliminaries, Sawa injures her foot and is unable to train for the next game. During a training session, Uozumi is also injured and hospitalized.
