Summary[]
Goro returns to the training ground and asks Tashiro to catch again. While watching Goro pitching, Yamada sees that his leg is still in a bad state. After that, Yamada choses Shimizu as the pitcher for the tournament's first game. At the day of the match, the team asks him to let Goro in the bench with them. Yamada tells Goro to do the lineup. Goro choses to stay in the bench and puts Shimizu at the pitcher position. The first match, against Youka, starts. Seishu scores a run in the first inning. Goro lefts the bench and, when he returns, its 8-1 for Youka. Goro joins the match and after that, they score 4 runs, its 8-5 for Youka.
Manga and Anime Differences[]
In the manga, Goro testing his pitching and finding out his foot is still injured happens at home, when he is alone. In the anime, he does the test at the training grounds with everyone present. The scene where Yamada talks to Goro and Taiga about who is going to be pitching in the first match is also different. In the manga, Yamada talks to them separately. In the anime, he talks to both at the same time. Also, Goro didn't leave the bench to train in the manga like he did in the anime.
