List of Characters[]
Summary[]
The middle school tournament bracket is released and Goro goes to Tomonoura to ask for a practice match with them, there he discovers that Toshiya is the captain of their team. Toshiya warns Goro about his pitching and Goro discuss it with his father. After that, Goro starts training his left arm and tells Komori that he will not appear in the training until the tournament. The episode ends with the Mifune East at the stadium awaiting for their first match in the tournament, and, as Goro isn't there, they put Muta in the pitcher position.
Manga and Anime Differences[]
Hideki Shigeno's retirement storyline from chapters 144 and 145 was adapted much later on season three's episode "From Father to Son". As Toshiya's scene seeing Goro was moved back to the previous episode, the end of chapter 146 was already adapted. However, the first half of the chapter, showing Toshiya at his school, Tomonoura, was entirely cut. Also, Ayane's first time asking for the manager position is cut from the anime, and only the second time she asks for it is shown. Her first interaction with Toshiya is also a little different but plays the same role. The scene were Goro visits his father's grave in chapter 131 was also moved from the previous arc to the current one. A very small scene of Toshiya spacing out in chapter 147 was cut, the same happens with a small interaction in chapter 149 between the Mifune East players (aside from Goro) where they talk about Goro's flaw. The scene where Yamane says that Muta is their "secret weapon" is also taken from the middle of the second game against Mifune West, back in chapter 138.
