Summary[]
Goro discovers that Gibson has returned to the Bisons after recovering from his surgery / treatments. The Hornets' next match is, incidentally, against the Bisons. Before the game, Goro confronts Gibson during field practice, about how Gibson has returned in order to show his son (Jr.) and Goro how to succeed at this competitive stage; he provokes Gibson by saying that he should stay retired, that Jr. and he don't want Gibson on the mound to "get them fired up", and that he should honor Jr.'s wishes. This is met with backlash as Gibson retorts that his priorities are completely different, and that even though he's disappointed in them, he doesn't have time to waste on their incompetence; the encounter ends with him deriding Goro as a "weakling".
However, Gibson struggles during the match, pitching out of the zone and at sub-90mph, and Goro is able to score a grand slam against him. After the game, Gibson is demoted to the minor leagues and goes back to pitching at the Double A level.
In the meantime, Goro achieves mixed results in the Majors, with, seasonally, 7 wins and 8 losses — "not the best record", as the narrator notes. Oliver asks Goro to join him in watching a Double A game in Nashville, wanting to "show him something". They arrive to see a game being played between the Beaumont Greenjacks and the Nashville Bulls, in the bottom of the first inning, with Gibson pitching.
