Summary[]
Coach Ando and his son, Takafumi
Kaoru cracks her shoulder
Daigo initially refuses Hikaru's idea of him being a catcher. However, after talking to Izumi, Daigo realizes the position's importance and decides to give it a try. Daigo is then perplexed after finding Hikaru training with Mutsuko. Hikaru says that Mutsuko is able to catch his fastball due to her brother being an ex-little leaguer and playing catch with her. Daigo runs away and visits Coach Ando's store to buy catcher equipment. He runs away again. The following day, he receives the catcher's mitt and equipment from coach Ando through his mom. Kaoru then helps him begin his catcher training. As she tries to throw a fastball, Kaoru cracks her shoulder. Daigo then trains alone, but Kaoru tells him to train his catching skills in the batting center, like Toshiya did in the past. As Daigo begins training at the batting center, Toshiya arrives to give him advice. When asked why he is there, Toshiya simply says that Goro asked him to do so, surprising Daigo.
Manga and Anime Differences[]
In the manga version of Kaoru's training scene, Izumi isn't present. However, the scene plays out the same way.
Trivia[]
The pitcher in the batting center video is Harada, from the 4th and 5th seasons. This is also the first time Toshiya is seen wearing glasses since the first season.
